Your Big Re-Opening Debut Means Design's Time to Shine, Baby!

Find me on:

re-opening

If there’s anything pandemic-land has taught us, it’s that nothing is certain! Things can change rapidly, whether from forces beyond our control or by design. In our opinion, changes by design (and for design) are so much more fun.

That’s why we want to talk about rethinking your brand and design as the world gears up for a new season and prepares to re-open for business. If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that we’re all ready for a little more freedom, a little fewer mandates, and a whole lot more of living life to the fullest.

After all, you only get one!

Sadly, many people have been stuck in a season of darkness, depression, and fear, and many have suffered illness and loss. The upside is that many of those same people are emerging from these things with a newfound appreciation for life and the world around them.

So, why not use your brand design and messaging to highlight the opposite of all the very dark things we’ve experienced over the last year and a half? There’s no time better in recent history where the world couldn’t use a little more light!

What Does Re-Imagining Your Brand Look Like?

Light (and light-heartedness), joy, hope, healing, community, unity, togetherness… these are just a few of the themes that brands can land on to re-imagine their design and messaging and maybe play just a small part in uplifting, uniting, and helping to heal communities all over the world.

However, instead of thinking of it as simply a ‘redesign,’ we challenge you to think of it more like a ‘considerate redesign,’ one that serves both your brand and your customers positively.

Don’t Be Afraid to Be Playful.

Yes, the last year and a half have been challenging and difficult on so many levels, but as a collective, we can’t stay stuck there. Incorporating playfulness into your redesign is a great way to pierce the heavy cloud that’s been hanging over everyone and let a little light shine through.

There’s an old saying, ‘Laughter is the best medicine,’ and it’s never truer than in the darkest of times. It’s when people are working through grief, loss, mental and physical illness, and other daunting hardships that they need to find reasons to smile and laugh the most.

By using intelligent design and messaging that’s focused and direct yet witty and fun, you can contribute in a meaningful way. When you can combine brevity with levity, you’re sure to deliver messaging that hits the guts yet still prompts a ghost of a smile, even for those with the heaviest of hearts.

Using playfulness in your design is also an excellent way to communicate heavy things and explore controversial topics without burying someone under them while at the same time encouraging growth in areas they may not have considered before.

Just remember that branding and messaging, when done well, can wield a lot of power in the eyes of your audience, and with that power lies a responsibility to messaging that is honest, ethical, and laced with true integrity.

Stellar design, honest messaging, uplifting themes, and a brand that values integrity sounds like a winning brand redesign to us! At a loss on where to start? Reach out and consult with us today.
